February 4, 2015

Trying my hardest to keep up my resolution to blog weekly.  January was a bust for weight loss, mostly, but I have been working out and starting to feel stronger.  Keeping with my goals and working towards weekly goals is helpful.  I have a small tight knit group of ladies who checks in daily with their workouts and I love that!  This week I'm committing to biking 35 minutes four days, drinking 100 ounces of water a day, and not adding honey to my tea.  I've got three days of biking in and have three more days to the week:). I'm also doing the 30 day crunch challenge and 3:00 plank each day.

Trying to focus on getting organized in our household.  As of yet, still in the planning stages!

Back again, not blogging yet

I am back, but not ready to blog yet. Don't worry. I am journaling, it's just to painful to put it all out there at the moment!

Wow! I am BACK!

I am back!!!! I haven't blogged since February! What is that all about!? It's quite simple. I have fallen off the WW wagon! LOL. Not completely, but almost! I've got all kind of excuses for not working out, but none for eating crappy! I had bronchitis three times, pneumonia, and my recovery from my tonsillectomy. Those were great excuses for not exercising, but I still could have eaten better! But as most of you know, I'm an all or nothing kind of girl! Now that I FINALLY feel healthy again, I am eating well and training for a half marathon!!! Yep. I feel great! I felt lost, but now am found! What an awesome feeling to crawl out of that hole! I Love you guys! Thanks especially to my family and friends who I've leaned on to get healthy again and those who have been by my side! Let's celebrate! I am back and life is good!!!!!

In Response to WW Questions

I just sent this FB response to a friend who recently joined WW. I thought other newbies might benefit from it too:)

Hello. I have no idea where to start!

First off, if you've ever read my blog or FB status updates, you would know that planning means everything to me. Weight Watchers works when I plan, plan, plan! In the beginning the planning takes some time, but once you start to lose weight and feel good becuase of all the healthy choices you are making, it will all be worth it. Like I said yesterday, get out a Sharpie and label everything in your pantry and fridge with the points per serving. I do best when I plan out my points for the entire next day the night before. I start by planning out my points for dinner, fill in breakfast and then lunch:) I always have the same breakfast, so that helps a lot!

My favorite breakfast is a whole wheat hamburger roll, Asian Morning star burger sauted on each side for 4 minutes, and a slice of lowfat cheese. That's seven very filling points! When I'm feeling like a gourmet cook, I add a slice of tomato and onion:)

My lunches vary. I like a half a can of soup with a seving of steamed veggies, trisquits and a serving of lowfat cottage cheese. Or I like a can of tuna or chicken with lowfat (I do fat free, but am thinking of going to lowfat to have less fake crap in my system!) mayo and either cut up grapes or oranges. Or I'll have 1/2 a Subway sandwich and fruit. It varies, more then breakfast, but not a ton!

Snacks:

1. a cheese stick, seven trisquits and an apple
2. Greek yogurt and fruit
3. cottage cheese and seven trisquits and an apple
4. Fiber bar and a piece of fruit

Dinner always starts with a protein and then two veggies. Sometimes I will add wild rice. I sometimes have fat free, low sodium chicken broth before dinner. It fills me up a bit. Sometimes we have a salad. It just depends. We eat pizza and I'll have steamed cauliflower on the side to dip in the sauce the kids are dipping their cheese bread in:) Weight Watchers have a LOT of great recipes. We like their Lasagna and fried rices:)

When eating out, I always look for the points ahead of time. If they aren't listed on their sight, I can usually find them by googling. It seems like a hastle, but so worth it. I feel amazing when I plan and I am the one in charge of what goes into my body and NOT some craving coming from God knows where:)!

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions:) I Love WW and it works when you work the system! It's NOT a diet and you can eat anything, just make good choices most of the time and you will be feeling amazing in no time!

You are special!

Woo Hoo, I Skipped That One!

I did it! This has nothing to do with weight loss and everything to do with living a healthy lifestyle:)

I just spent five days on the cusp of getting a full blown cold, which usually ends with a doctor visit and up to five prescriptions! Not this time. I am confident it has everything to do with the way I am living these days. I am eating healthy most days, exercising six days a week, taking my supplements and trying to get more sleep. I skipped a few workouts and added Simply Saline and a decongestent to te mix and was able to shoe away the latest cold Hayden brought home from school.

I knew in the back of my mind that a healthy lifestyle would help in areas other then weight loss, BUT I didn't realize until this week it could help me keep away my dreaded bronchitis! Awesome!!!!!! Whooo Hooooooo!

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

For the first time in SEVERAL months, I had a string of 10 none trackinng days! I started tracking, but by the end of the day everything had gone to hell in a handbag! So instead of beat myself up, I like to learn something from the experience. There are several things to be learned:

1. I am human and it's okay to get off track.

2. It's always going to be a struggle, so take one day at a time and plan, plan, plan!

3. Keep exercising, which I did and kept my spirits up:)

4. It's okay to get off track, just get back to it asap:)

I had a great day yesterday and today I have a plan. Plus, I get to look back on the month of awesome workouts and plan out February:)! I will edit to add those numbers and plans here later!

Edited to add: 930 minutes hooping and 26 days of workouts!

Two Negatives to Today's Workout:)

The first and one that wouldn't be obvious to most is I had to change my setting on the elliptical to track my age as 43 now! The other was I needed to go on the elliptical and not the treadmill:(. The elliptical is a must when my knee us bothering me, but the workout doesn't interest me, I do not gather enough endorphins and my feet fall asleep! I'm done complaining now:)

As far as turning 43, it wasn't so bad. Considering I feel amazing and maybe better then I have in the past 15 years, I'm good with 43! I thank God everyday for giving me the willpower to quit drinking, find running, run a few marathons and several other half marathons. I am a better mom, wife, friend, co-worker, and daughter then I was when I was turning 40 and had recently quit drinking and had just taken up running and truely eating right. I was sooooo uncomfortable in my skin when I was 250 pounds and hiding behind eating and drinking more wine then is acceptable.

I have a lot of goals fr me this year. I am registered for a 10k in April and three half marathons, two in the summer and one in the fall. I ran my last race untrained and at 209 pounds. I have lost 19 pounds since hitting rock bottom that weekend. Yes, I ran a half, but it was slow and I didn't feel healthy. I will be back to 170 for my races this year and I will get a PR or two:). I am looking forward to crossing the finish lines and shedding tears of joy because I've met my goals!

Do you have goals? If not, I highly suggest making some:). You won't be sorry! Have a great week!
