Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

For the first time in SEVERAL months, I had a string of 10 none trackinng days! I started tracking, but by the end of the day everything had gone to hell in a handbag! So instead of beat myself up, I like to learn something from the experience. There are several things to be learned:

1. I am human and it's okay to get off track.

2. It's always going to be a struggle, so take one day at a time and plan, plan, plan!

3. Keep exercising, which I did and kept my spirits up:)

4. It's okay to get off track, just get back to it asap:)

I had a great day yesterday and today I have a plan. Plus, I get to look back on the month of awesome workouts and plan out February:)! I will edit to add those numbers and plans here later!

Edited to add: 930 minutes hooping and 26 days of workouts!

Two Negatives to Today's Workout:)

The first and one that wouldn't be obvious to most is I had to change my setting on the elliptical to track my age as 43 now! The other was I needed to go on the elliptical and not the treadmill:(. The elliptical is a must when my knee us bothering me, but the workout doesn't interest me, I do not gather enough endorphins and my feet fall asleep! I'm done complaining now:)

As far as turning 43, it wasn't so bad. Considering I feel amazing and maybe better then I have in the past 15 years, I'm good with 43! I thank God everyday for giving me the willpower to quit drinking, find running, run a few marathons and several other half marathons. I am a better mom, wife, friend, co-worker, and daughter then I was when I was turning 40 and had recently quit drinking and had just taken up running and truely eating right. I was sooooo uncomfortable in my skin when I was 250 pounds and hiding behind eating and drinking more wine then is acceptable.

I have a lot of goals fr me this year. I am registered for a 10k in April and three half marathons, two in the summer and one in the fall. I ran my last race untrained and at 209 pounds. I have lost 19 pounds since hitting rock bottom that weekend. Yes, I ran a half, but it was slow and I didn't feel healthy. I will be back to 170 for my races this year and I will get a PR or two:). I am looking forward to crossing the finish lines and shedding tears of joy because I've met my goals!

Do you have goals? If not, I highly suggest making some:). You won't be sorry! Have a great week!

Two Weeks into 2012!

I feel pretty awesome having two great weeks under my belt. It's actually more like 2.5 months since I got back on track eating right and working out:). It's the 15th and I have 13 great work outs jotted down on my calendar (the hooping workouts plus the daily workouts is more like 28!):). The hooping resolution is harder then I thought it'd be, but I'm doing it!

I really started running last week. I had been running once a week and upped it to several times last week and my knee has NOT been in pain. Woohooooooo! That is probably the result of recently losing 19 pounds and my stronger legs from bodypump:). Running is an awesome drug. I love the way I feel physically and emotionally when I run. I wish everyone could feel the endorphines I gather up on a quick 35 minutes on the treadmill or longer hour around the lake:)!

Thank you to everyone who has inspired me and cheered me on! Each and everyone one of you have helped me grow in a way I never thought possible. Have a great week!

Reflecting On 2011

I like to look back on the past and use it to motivate me in the future:). That's my positive spin on looking back at 2011! There were three months that I am proud of, other then that I have some work to do in 2012! Wow, looking over my calendar from 2011 was eye opening, to say the least! I can see why I gained some weight and wasn't my happy, cheerful self! I did successfully complete my 2011 New Years resolution to hoop 20 minutes per day! My workouts in 2011 are listed below:

January 22 workouts
February 11 workouts
March 9 workouts
April 12 workouts
May 12 workouts
June 13 workouts
July 24 workouts
August 7 workouts
September 8 workouts
October 15 workouts
November 18 workouts
December 23 workouts

If I hadn't written down all my workouts in 2011, I would never have guessed it was so few workouts! That was a total of 174 days of workouts in 2011! This year I hope to get in 312 workouts! Some runs, BodyPump, elliptical, rowing and cycling:). I can't forget the 30 minutes of hooping per day!

Happy New Year! Bring it on!

Happy 2012! I am soooooooo ready to get to goal and work on maintenance:). This is the year to get it done! I have friends like Lisa to continue this journey with me and keep me inspired:). Lisa is a complete inspiration having already dropped 134 pounds! WTG Lisa!

I had a tough time picking a New Years Resolution for 2012. So last night I went through my calendar and looked at my hula hooping minutes for 2011. I hooped 7682 minutes. My goal was 20 minutes per day in. My goal for 2012 is 30 minutes/day, which will bring me close to 11,000 minutes in 2012:)! I will have to stay on top of this goal otherwise it will be really hard to catch up!

I'm ready! Happy New Year Everyone!

P.S. Eleven years ago today I gave up the cancer sticks and three years ago I gave up one of my besties (Vino):) Those are two things I am extremely proud of!
